Why we offer most of our attorney services with a flat fee

NW Debt Resolution offers most of its services via flat fee or contingency because we believe this is the most consumer friendly practice.
Did you know the average attorney rate in Washington State is $322 an hour? Specifically, the average bankruptcy attorney charges $406/hr, the average appeals attorney charges $350/hr, the average litigation attorney charges $323/hr, and the average contracts attorney charges $348/hr.
And did you know that the average salary in Washington State is $28/hr? It isn't practical for someone making $28/hr to hire a $322/hr attorney with an open ended "I'll send you a bill at the end of each month" contract. This justifiable fear of high rates scarers off consumers from approaching attorneys at all and we think that in most cases a flat fee is the best option for the consumer and the attorney.
Come hell or high water, you know the expense of the service up front.
In many consumer cases, the consumer is going against someone with much deeper pockets, and running up the legal fees till the consumer can no longer afford representation is a very common litigation tactic. Well, that tactic goes out the window once the other side the finds out you have a flat fee agreement.
On the attorney side, keeping track of hours, issuing billing statements, and dealing with clients unhappy with high bills is a serious drag on the attorney's quality of life. The flat fee agreement cuts down on a lot of time overhead in the attorney's day, which means he/she doesn't need to bill so much in the first place.
Flat fees don't mean we skimp on service. We are very responsive, generally you can reach my law clerk via the phone or email during business hours, and unless I am tied up with a deadline, hearing, or another client, he can usually transfer you to me on the spot. Yes, I often use him to 'screen' my calls because his time is much less expensive than mine, so to reach me please call 206 800 6000 extension 102 to reach him, but if he can't give you the information you need, he'll try to get me on the line.
This is a good tradeoff between affordable pricing and high responsiveness and translates into affording pricing for you, and while you might find someone with lower flat fees than us, you won't find an attorney more experienced and with lower fees.
